Art and Conservation in Nepal

Every year in April, Nepal celebrates Wilderness Week. This year, our local partner Ujyalo Nepal launched an art competition with our support. Young and old artists could participate and win great prizes under the slogan “Nature for Life”.

The aim was to use art to create access to the local people in order to bring them closer to the value of their nature. Nelumbo e.V. supported the competition and will continue to promote the coexistence of humans and nature in the region.

Bat conservation with the NABU

BFA-Fledermaus-2019-7

Every single one of our 25 local bat species are under fierce protection, because of their critical status, which is why NELUMBO e.V, NELUMBOArt and the NABU joined forces to raise the awareness.

For the second time, our artist Stefanie Gendera displayed her beautiful small watercolour portraits of bats during the NABU´s Bat conservation conference and our thanks go to her voluntary efforts in this area.

Environmental education with Kayamoja

2018’s spring was filled with art and good cause in Namibia. Answering the call of the Kayamoja Art Trust, many acclaimed international artists exhibited their work in aid of the Hope village. 50% of all sales supported the 90 young fosterlings of the hope village in Windhoek.

A beautiful initiative and we are happy to support international projects. Our artist, Stefanie Gendera, created a special original for this occasion and supported the cause with the sale.
Additionally, we visited the village and initiated workshops and a poster exhibition with the children to engage them in the environmental education.
